Quite
a bit of news to report this month! I'm very glad to have heard from
so many of you about your accomplishments.
Attorney Maria E. Recalde, a director of the regional law firm of
Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA, has joined the Advisory Board of the
Boston Chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance
and Accounting (ALPFA). Established in 1972, ALPFA is the first national
Hispanic professional association in the United States. Since then,
the organization has sought to enhance opportunities for CPAs, accountants,
finance and related professionals and students, while expanding Latino
leadership in the global workforce. Congratulations, Maria!
My fellow column-writer, Linda Merrill, Chameleon Interiors, www.chameleon-interiors.com,
was featured in an article entitled "Walls and Stripes Forever," which
dealt with painted stripes on walls. This article has appeared in print
and online newspapers across the country. It also appears on the website
for the W Network, one of the most popular television stations in Canada,
which is a cross between Lifetime and HGTV. If you’d like the
read the article, go
here. Keeping busy, as ever, Linda is again offering her interior
decorating class "Jump Start Your Interior Decorating" through
Duxbury’s
adult education program, Before & After Dark. This three-hour class
is being held twice in March. Call Linda at 781-585-0275 for more information
on registering.
This summer Jayne Pelosi, Renaissance Interior Design, will be appearing
on an episode of HGTV's "Designers' Challenge"! But you can
catch a glimpse of her design work and wisdom today by visiting her
featured web pages on www.hgtv.com.
In an interview in HGTV.com's "Decorating" newsletter, Jayne
discusses the inspirations behind some of her design work, what's hot
and what's not in interior design, and how anyone can make their home
makeover projects more affordable. We love to hear about these successes,
Jayne!
Credit card guru Rosemarie Lanchester, is in the process of having
business cards designed and printed that will identify her as an individual
entity. "I am now RKL Associates, an advisor for business payment
solutions." Rosemarie reports. "I represent a number of companies
with different fee structures and products so that potential clients
can select what best suits their individual needs and budget." Rosemarie
is using the services of two people she has met through the network:
Laura Willis, Willis-Works Communications, who is designing the card,
and Maia Von Becker of Nautilus Printing, who is doing the printing. "I
am very excited about the business cards because they will remind you
of a credit card," says Rose. I can't wait to see it!
Paula and Bill Harris, CFP of WH Cornerstone Investments (www.whcornerstone.com)
are teaching a one-night course entitled Wealth Creation for Women on
Tuesday, March 1. For more information visit Duxbury
Before and After Dark,
or contact WH Cornerstone directly at 888.797.9009. Sounds like a very
worthwhile course!
Please send your information to me at Gretje@gfergphoto.com. I'd love
to hear from you!

Connections by
Linda Merrill
|
As
usual for the Network, we're all busy making connections, passing along
referrals and creating a better business environment for all of us on
the South Shore. While we are all so busy, I'd like to thank the folks
below who took the time to acknowledge others for helping them grow
their businesses.
This is a great opportunity to show your appreciation! Whether you
call it good manners or good kharma (both, I say!) - it is always a
good idea to send our thanks out into the world.
Please keep 'em coming! And remember, you don't need to collect your
thanks, just send them to me as you think of them - I'll do the rest!
Bob Hofmann, Claddagh Mortgage, Inc., www.claddaghmortgage.com,
wishes to thank Maia Von Becker and her crack team at Nautilus Printing
for doing such a great job on his most recent mailing piece. Also, a
thanks to his Round Table Group - Veva Johnson, Professional Bookkeeping
Services; Beth Sobiloff, Birchwood Enterprises; Joan Collins, Coach;
Julie Foley, The Consultant of Style; Donna McPherson, Jessie's Creations;
and Teresa Burnett, Willow Designs, Inc. for the great welcome and input
at the January meeting. Bob says "I've
already started to implement some of the ideas!" He also wishes
to thank Paula Harris, WH Cornerstone Investments and Julie Foley (again!)
for putting him in touch with some great resources to get started on
the "speaking circuit". And finally, another thanks to Joan
Collins for the great "pre-lunch" meeting at The East Bay
Grille. Says Bob "Joan's insights, advice and book recommendations
were incredibly helpful!" Wow, Bob sure is busy making the most
out of his Network Membership!
Rosemarie Lanchester, First Merchant Payment Systems, www.firstmerchants.org,
wishes to thank Laura Willis, Willis-Works, for creating her new image
business card and also big thanks to Sarah McCloskey for referring her
to Laura.
Teresa Burnett, Willow Designs, Inc., www.WillowDesignsInc.com,
is delighted to announce the launch of her new web site. Teresa thanks
Beth Sobiloff, Birchwood
Enterprises, for making her vision a reality.
Visit Teresa's new website at www.WillowDesignsInc.com to
see both Teresa's fine interior design work as well as Beth's website
work!

You
Snoozed, We Schmoozed by
Judy Siddell
|
Well
hello there folks!! I hope January was productive and not too many of
you are suffering from the winter doldrums. It's cold out there, but
many of us got out and networked, networked, networked. Here's what
you missed in January:
Lantana Lunch: A great event for those of you on
the 24 and 128 belts, as it is just off the highway and takes little
effort to get there. Joanne Mullaney of Bayside Home Mortgage was an
excellent presenter and had lots of great information to pass on. Aren't
mortgage brokers wonderful? OK...OK you've got me, I'm a mortgage broker
too. Anyway, as always Debbie was a shining host and kept the networking
productive and exciting. Don't miss the next Lantana lunch - Monday,
March 7th. I'll be looking for you!
Blackfin Lunch: We had our first lunch in our new
spot this month and quite frankly, I feel like we're no longer at the
kid's table and we are all grown up. If you didn't make it, you certainly
missed out. There were Valentine treats supplied by Maia von Becker
("Don't stink in ink.") AND a magic show! As always, the food was
wonderful and the networking was superior. The next Blackfin lunch is
Tuesday, March 15 th . No excuses!
East Bay Grille Lunch: Everyone
is in full swing in this New Year but several of you still made it out
to the East Bay Grille. All the networking we've been doing is certainly
keeping me busy and it appears to be keeping lots of others busy as
well. Donnalee Lacasse of Reliv International was the five-minute presenter
and boy did she provide a wealth of information! It was great to hear
Donnalee speak with such passion about nutrition and her products. I
have to admit, I felt a bit guilty sitting next to her eating a roll
with butter. Mark your calendar for next month - we meet Wednesday,
March 23 rd and we all look forward to seeing you there.
Monthly Networking Breakfast: We had a terrific
turnout for this event-even though mother nature was not as cooperative
as she could have been. I guess that's what we get in New England! There
were five new recruits present this month - hats off to the Membership
Team! Stacy Madison of Stacy's Pita Chips was the speaker and she was
truly one of a kind. All were inspired as Stacy spoke of her unique
philosophy and vision; and the steps she took towards success. We left
this event motivated to attain the level of success Stacy has achieved.
Our next breakfast event is Tuesday, March 29 th - so come on down,
meet some new people and visit with some old friends. Don't forget to
sign up for the opportunity to do a three-minute presentation. Contact
Paula Harris for details.
Until next month... No more snoozing, let's
get schmoozing!!
