Jayne PelosiDear Members,

I know many of you out there do not attend our events regularly and this is a shame! Imagine the connections we could all make if you did. But my real purpose for mentioning this is that even though you may not make your presence known physically; why not get great free publicity within the Network by submitting your announcements to this column? Someone out there may be looking for your services as we speak. Better yet, every time your name appears in this column, or in "Connections", your company appears higher on search engines like Google. And oh, did I mention this publicity is free

Linda Merrill, of Chameleon Interiors has been named Co-Director for the Boston Chapter of The Downtown Women's Club.  Linda's design blog ::Surroundings:: was recently named as one of Elle Decor Magazine Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell's favorite design blogs in the June issue.  On June 15 and 16, Linda appeared on WHDH Channel 7's design segment "Room for Improvement" for the makeover of a master bedroom. A recap of the design process is available on her blog here: http://chameleon-interiors.blogspot.com/search/label/Room%20for%20Improvement.

Congratulations to Cathy Follett, of Renovisions, who was recently highlighted as business of the month in the Hanover Mariner Newspaper for her new, gorgeous Kitchen and Bath Showroom at 150 Broadway, Hanover. Her showroom will dazzle and impress you, as will her creativity and design abilities. As a licensed contractor, she can provide expert installation and superior product knowledge. Stop by and see for yourself!

Jayne Pelosi of Renaissance Interior Design will be speaking and holding two upcoming book signings: On Friday, July 6th at 8:00 PM at the Market Street Book Store in Mashpee Commons and on Saturday July 7th at 3:00 PM at the Booksmith book store at Skaket Market, Route 6A in Orleans, both on scenic Cape Cod.

Keep your kudos coming to me by the 20h of each month! Until next month…remember what Confucius said: "If you do what you love, you will never work another day in your life".

Lois WoodHappy Summer to you all! Hope you’re able to enjoy the season, we all know how short-lived in can seem here in New England!

Wasn’t that a great party, our annual "Celebrations" event? If you didn’t attend, you missed a fun time!

OK, back to those Connections that people are making:

Pat Masters of TaxLadyEA wants to "let everyone know that George Weir of Weir Moving Services is really very very good at what he does. My son (Sean) was going to move to Oregon and had to move stuff from 2 apartments in 2 different states (him & his girlfriend). Sean had already gotten estimates from 3 different movers in RI and I told him to touch base with George Weir (He was very impressed with George's expertise, really quick responses (phone, email, blackberry) and EVERYTHING (George went to RI to get an idea of what the client needed!). All we can say is... if you are moving, call George Weir!"

Pat also says: "Many thanks to Barbara Case of RBC Dain Rauscher in Norwell for her patience and expertise in setting up a great retirement portfolio for me. She made everything easy to understand and provided wonderful service! I highly recommend her!

Diane Sargent of South Shore Elder Services says: We had our "Aging is Everyone’s Future" Conference at Lombardo’s on May 15. By all accounts it was a very successful evening. The success in large part was because of all my great friends at SSWBN who chose to Sponsor or have vendor space. My sincerest gratitude to the following:

Lynda Chuckran, Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group a Major Sponsor

And these vendors: Jennifer Anastasiades of Home Helpers, Mary Baillie of Grove Manor Estates, Darlene Calcagno of Cuisine by Darlene, Tina Dwyer of South Shore Visiting Nurse Association, Jane Ford of Work For Wellness, Janet LaBerge of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Donna MacPherson of South Shore Hospital, Jennifer Moran of Home Instead Senior Care, Gwen Morgan of The What if Workbook, Theresa Narus and Jackie Hurstak of Eastern Bank, and Stacey Shipman of Let it Flow.

In addition to the vendors it was great to see members of SSWBN in attendance."

And finally, I’d like to thank Rachel Britt and Barbara Dixon of Medical Resources Home Health Corp. for entrusting me to design their new logo and printed materials. It’s been great working with Rachel!

I leave you this month with this parting thought: "I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman ‘Where’s the self-help section?’ She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose."
