Are you Running Your Business or is Your Business Running You?
Led by Brenda Wornum Moore of BWM Consulting

  • As a business owner, how do you see yourself in your business?  Owner or employee?  You are responsible for all aspects of your business, bookkeeping and accounting, sales and marketing, networking, research and development. Handling all of these responsibilities can leave you frustrated and exhausted. Managing and growing a business requires constant movement, but lots of activity in the wrong direction without the right results is wasted.
  • Most small business owners don’t get bogged down in planning for the growth of the business.  They get bogged down in the day-to-day operations of the business.  If you are not as active as you would like to be in managing and growing your business, then this workshop is for you.
  • Determine where the lines are blurred between you and the business and pinpoint where you need to take control.
  • Define what you are going to do to put your business on the road to success.
  • Discover how to spend less time in the business and more time on the business.

Brenda Wornum Moore is the Founder and President of BWM Consulting.  The company specializes in performance and learning solutions for businesses, organizations and individuals through business development, training and consulting. She brings over 12 years of diverse management and training and development experience gained from working in the financial, pharmaceutical and retail industries as well as the non-profit sector.  She has worked with management in businesses and organizations to deliver services to enable individual growth and development to help people achieve their career aspirations and for businesses to achieve their strategic goals.

Two hundred and fifty enthusiastic women poured into the church hall where a multitude of vendors awaited. Jayne spoke about Feng Shui while fellow SSWBN member Stacey Shipman of Let It Flow Fitness offered yoga classes next door. Along with wine and cheese, ladies were treated to yummy appetizers made by Darlene Calcagno of Cuisine by Darlene. Thanks to Darlene, the planners of the event perused the membership Directory and found both Jayne and Stacey. The Directory indeed has legs; great networking!

Lois WoodWell, our first snow of the season, NOW is it really Winter?

Paula Harris of WH Cornerstone Investments in Duxbury would like to thank all those who help make her with her board service to the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra stronger.  Thank you to Jane Ford of Work For Wellness for joining the board of directors and Susan Hammond of CFO Strategies for joining the Finance Committee; Phyllis Godwin of Granite City Electric and Steve Certa of Watch All for the ads they took out in the 2006-2007 program book; Linda Merrill of Chameleon Interiors and Jayne Pelosi of Renaissance Interiors for their generous donations to the Black & White Gala Dinner and Auction; Barbara Case of RBC Dain Rauscher, Bill Hewitt of Champignon North America, Inc., Susan Hammond, Elizabeth Pineault of Elizabeth A. Pineault, CPA, Jane Ricardi of Jane Ricardi, CFP, Beth Sobiloff of Birchwood Enterprises and George Weir of Weir Moving Services who have attended concerts and come over to say hello.  Lastly, thanks to Susan Hammond, Elizabeth Pineault, and Laurie Kirk of Growth Strategies for Peak Performance for attending an intimate cocktail party with the Phil’s conductor Steven Karidoyanes.  It is such a joy knowing that the members of the network support each other in so many ways!

Karen McKenna-Veliotis, Creative Memories Senior Consultant would like to share a number of testimonials for the Network and some of it members.

  • Rosemarie K. Lanchester of Send Out Cards is the wonderful woman who introduced me to SSWBN. I instantly bonded because of her philosophies on how she works her business, helps others, and how Send Out Cards is the perfect way to keep in touch with your customers and create that all important relationship with them.
  • Debbie Anders, Executive Director of SSWBN, was the first person I met when I went to the Rustic Kitchen Luncheon. She put me at ease, explained how the group worked and introduced me to Jayne M. Pelosi of Renaissance Interior Design who continued the welcoming process of finding me a place to sit and introduced me to…
  • Jim Della Volpe of Growing Tree Partners, Inc. At first I was taken aback when I met Jim, because I wondered what a man was doing at a women’s group, but he too welcomed me there and told me a bit about his company. At first I did not realize he was a business coach. It may have been because I was nervous but when I realized it I blurted out "You’re a business coach?" and when he replied "YES". I knew then he was MY business coach. We talked a bit about what people in the business world have inspired and motivated me and we shared some of the same people. I was hesitant at first because I just assumed I would hire a female business coach. I tend to surround myself with strong, warm, confident women and don’t I want the same for a coach? No, I decided. I want a man. A man will give a different perspective to my business. A man will not sugar coat or hold any punches. He will not let go if I don’t meet my personal deadlines. I expect he will be tough but I was wrong. Jim isn’t tough, abrasive, and uncaring. He is strong, warm, confident man and treats me as a business woman who is also a wife and mother. He is just what I needed in my life and since October I have recruited 11 people to my Creative Memories team, earned a trip in a month in half that I had been struggling to earn 8 months previous, and built my confidence to levels I never expected I would enjoy in just few months. If you now see the value in hiring a business coach, Jim is the one for you!
  • I have met and worked with some other members too that I have really enjoyed talking with and am so happy to share how fabulous they are as well. The first is Stacey Shipman Founder, Fitness and Wellness Coach of Let it Flow. In her 10 minutes at Bon Caldo she said "If you don’t like aerobics. Then don’t do aerobics find something else that you do like and make that the thing you do get yourself fit." How perfect. I have applied that to my workout routine, business practice, and how I do things in all areas of my life.
  • Jane Ford of Melaleuca -The Wellness Company is delightful, intelligent, dynamic woman who has taught me how to improve my business and my life with Melaleuca. Thank you Jane!

Kathleen Burns Kingsbury of KBK Connections has just formed a "Coaching Group for Business Owners" that just started this week and has already improved my business and life. The group is closed for the next 6 months but if there are openings for the June-December group I highly recommend signing up! Way to go Danger Girl!

Jaci Stanley of Ameriprise Financial is also in the Coaching Group for Business Owners and is such a great member. She taught me that she can help plan your financial future and will do it with humor and grace!

Allison Quinn Guido of Almart Building would like to thank Gwen Morgan on the What if Workbook.. "I bought it for my mother in law to help her get her parents’ information organized. She says the book is great because it gives her a guide to know what she needs to be asking."

She would also like to thank Kate Granigan from C.A.R.E. and Blair Hamaty from Setting the Space for choosing Almar for their remodeling needs.

As for me (Lois), I'd like to thank Jennifer Bruni of Mercury Communications for the opportunity to collaborate with her on one of her client’s new business launch – she’ll create all the copy and language, and I’ll create the "look" for all their marketing materials. It will be fun to work with her!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day…

"A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave."

- Mahatma Gandhi
