Juggling, Balancing and Letting Go Joan's
philosophy is that our external lives are always a direct reflection
of our interior, mental state. With that in mind, participants at the
November brown bag luncheon analyzed their own lives with regard to
the four components necessary for a healthy life balance: emotional,
physical, mental, and spiritual fitness. One tool used for this analysis
was a Life Balance Wheel where those in attendance identified the areas
of their lives that are most out of balance. In the discussion that
followed, participants strategized about what would be needed to bring
those areas into balance. This included discussion on prioritizing
and letting go. Participants also were given a life planning tool for
projecting where they intend to be in 20, 10 and five years. The intent
of this tool is to look at the big picture in order to "live into" the
desired result and to decide, based on that, what is most important
now. Finally participants filled out a "roles" form whereby they identified
the roles they play, the long- and short-term goals in reach role and
any role-related friction or clutter that may be redefined or eliminated
altogether. |
Fall is a time of learning! Paula and Bill Harris, CFP of WH Cornerstone Investments, have been busy “sharpening the saw” by attending industry conferences this fall, including the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). The hot topics are: the art of financial planning, investing in commodities and exchange traded funds (ETFs). All the better to continue their great service to their clients! Lois Wood of Lois Wood Communications reports that she was asked to join the Board of Directors of the Duxbury Business Association. She says, "It's a great group, and I'm excited about getting more publicity and buzz for those of us who own and run businesses in Duxbury!" Congratulations, Lois! Lisa Rooney of LBR Direct has created another successful targeted direct marketing campaign this fall! One of her clients has a successful regional new movers program, and wants to take it to a national level. Lisa has “opened doors” into 8 out of 18 selected companies. The companies include: Best Buy, Lowe’s, Linen ‘N Things, Staples, The Home Depot, Home Decorators Collection, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and The Service Master Co. "The campaigns are successful for 2 main reasons," Lisa says about her Prompt Response program. "First, we hit the right people within the targeted group of companies. And second, we have strong and consistent follow through for each and every targeted company.” Maria Recalde of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green has been named a SuperLawyer after an exhaustive poll conducted by Law & Politics, a national research organization. Fewer than 5 percent of Massachusetts attorneys were named SuperLawyers. That's wonderful news, Maria! The results are published in the November 2005 issue of Boston Magazine, as well as in Massachusetts Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers are selected based upon ballots sent to 32,000 attorneys across the state by the publishers of Boston Magazine and Law & Politics. Maria's practice concentrates on technology and intellectual property litigation, transactions and counseling. She also provides strategic counseling on the wide range of issues facing emerging companies today. This is the last newsletter of the year, but keep sending me news about your accomplishments to gretje@gfergphoto.com. I will be happy to include them in the January column. Hope your holidays are enriching and joyous! Gretje |
This is my last Connections column; I’ve certainly enjoyed being in contact with so many network members! I wish more of you would partake in the opportunity to give thanks for referrals and business. It’s a great opportunity to put your name out there and be a part of the active networking we’re all seeking. In January, Connections will be taken over by Jennifer Barry Donovan of The Jon Barry Company. Have fun Jennifer! I would like to thank Tom and Reiko Beach, TRB Designs, for all their work on the video shoot for the Home Office Makeover. The video, which premiered at Expo, really illustrated the process of a home office makeover. They were great to work with and made their subjects feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I’d also like to thank Tom for his calm presence and help with our equipment needs at the workshop. And I’d like to send a big shout out thanks to Laura Willis, Willis-Works Communications, for sharing her equipment at the event. Teamwork! A big benefit of the SSWBN! Paula and Bill Harris, CFP of WH Cornerstone Investments, www.whcornerstone.com, would like to thank Linda Merrill, Chameleon Interiors, for all her help with their office layout. Says Paula "We had two new giant file cabinets delivered and just had no idea how to rearrange the office. Linda came to our rescue with several floor plans that included suggestions on not just furniture placement, but also lighting and flooring suggestions. Today, we have a much more functional and pleasant workspace that we enjoy stepping into." Editors note: "Thanks Paula and Bill! You were great clients!". Paula and Bill would also like to thank Jennifer Bruni, Mercury Communications, for the rewrite of their corporate website. Being fee-only financial planners with a specialty on working with women we wanted to really use our website as a first line of self-selection for clients. Says Paula & Bill "Jennifer took the time to understand our business and the unique processes we offer. She did a terrific job shaping the words and painting the picture of the results that our clients have had based on their relationship with WH Cornerstone. Stay tuned for the roll out of our new corporate image!" Linda Merrill |
