Selling for Non-Sales Professionals

Dread? – Hate? – Fear? – Frozen? – Don’t know how? – or for any number of reasons many professionals do not adequately “sell” their services.

This workshop will address the “roadblocks” and / or the “speed bumps” that are holding you back from growing your business. With some insights, skill building and practice you can “thaw out” and begin to move your business forward.

Each attendee will be able to identify a style or a technique that can work for them. You will then develop your initial approach to selling your services.

All participants will leave with an action plan.

Jim Della VolpeJim Della Volpe is the founder and president of Growing Tree Partners, Inc. He is a 30 year veteran of the business development process and has worked in B to B Sales, Sales and Management Training, and in all levels of Sales Management including VP of Sales in both large and small companies. Some of his experience includes opening offices throughout the Northeast and hiring and training the local staff.  In 1997 Jim co-founded The Growing Tree School in Hingham with his wife and daughter. The business was profitable and was sold in 2001. His Business Advisory and Executive Coaching practice came to be in 2001 to fill a need for training, coaching, and mentoring Sales Professionals and Business Owners

Jim is certified by Wilson Learning in Counselor Selling and Managing Growth Resources, and by Psychological Associates in Dimensional Sales Management and Dimensional Management, a grid-based behavioral training program. He is a licensee of the Get Sales NOW! appointment setting and prospecting program and is certified in Brian Tracy’s programs, Advanced Selling Techniques, and Personal Success. Jim has studied with several of the leading coaching organizations. He is an Accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business; a U.K. based non-profit which provides support for small to medium sized businesses.

Members must be so busy working IN their businesses this month since I received no submissions to the column! Just a reminder that we'd all love to hear to about your success: any publicity or awards you've received; or any milestone you've reached in your businesses. Please submit them to me by the 20th of the month so we all can congratulate you and tell you how great you are! Til next month, remember what Confucius said: “If you do what you love, you will never work another day in your life”.

Lois Wood

Hello to all my fellow SSWBN members, and Happy Spring!
I hear from LOTS of you at luncheon and breakfast events telling about all the Connections you’ve made, but you don’t email them to me! Sob! However, THESE folks did send in their Connections:
Lisa Rooney of LBR Direct wants to thank two colleagues:
• “I want to thank Mary McElroy of McElroy Associates for helping me synchronize my ACT databases between a PC and a laptop – this means we’re able to update the databases easily on a regular basis. With this ability, my account directors are able to work independently, and I still know what’s going on. Now, we’re able to really streamline the work we’re doing.”
• “I also want to thank Joan Berson of Professional Bookkeeping Services for helping me with my bill-paying process. Joan has taken me away from Excel spreadsheets to using QuickBooks for my expenses. Even though I’m a small company, Joan has shown me that QuickBooks will really make my life easier when it comes to paying bills. Thanks Joan."

Barry Gordon of Gordon Mond & Ott, www.gmo-law.com says “For a good trip, see Paula Killion of the Travel Center . She was our travel agent on our recent trip to Thailand. No one could have done a better job.”

Reiko & Tom Beach of TRB Design, Inc. would like to thank a number of people that have contributed to increasing their business. “First off, we want to thank Laura Willis of Willis-Works for creating our new logo. That led us to creating our NEW website. Which brings us to thanking Brigette Novallis, Alpha Center www.alphacenteronline.com, who used us to produce a video of her presentation. She is in the process of putting her video on her r website, but you can see them on our new site by going to the video production area, Speakers. We would also like to thank Watch All who allowed us to video Brigette at their offices, and Jim DellaVolpe of Growing Tree Partners for choosing us to host his website. Lastly, I would like to thank Phyllis Wenzel of Image Resolutions who donated their printing services to print brochures for a special project of mine, the Norwell Food Pantry.”

Susan Peters of Mount Vernon Mortgage Corporation has two connections she’d like to thank: “I would very much like to thank Paula Killion of the Travel Center . I referred a friend who is organizing a cruise to Alaska and Paula put together a fantastic deal for the group. Paula was very competitive, but even more importantly, she was very responsive to our group’s needs. I am especially grateful to Paula because I am a part of this travel group! I am looking forward to a fantastic vacation and want to thank Paula for taking such great care of our group.”

“I would also like to thank Maureen Hanifan of South Shore Savings Bank . Even though Maureen and I are in the same line of business, she always refers her customers to me if the situation calls for a product that she cannot offer. It is comforting to know someone in the same line of work who refers to me when she cannot help the customer, and someone to whom I can refer when I cannot offer the right product. Maureen is a true professional who puts her customers’ needs ahead of her own. Thanks, Maureen; it is a pleasure to share business with you.”

And finally, the famous Judy Walsh-Rodriguez of WatchAll has this to say:

“Everyone in the Network has been wonderful to associate with but I’d like to especially thank Janet LaBerge of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap . Janet has donated so many items to an animal shelter that I was associated with and these weren’t just small items. She found and delivered a washer and dryer! She also donated office items, including hanging file folders which may not seem like much but when you’re running a non-profit, every little bit counts. She’s caring and took the time out of her busy day to do all of this. It’s people like Janet who make the Network special!”
