WHO HAVE WE HELPED?

  • A single mother and domestic abuse survivor supporting herself and two teenage sons stocking shelves on the night shift at a local department store. She is currently enrolled in the Administrative Information System Program at Massasoit Community College and well on her way to achieving her goal of financial independence
  • A 38 year-old single mother who over the past 20 years has supported herself and daughter as a playground aid, cafeteria worker and teacher's assistant. She will receive her degree in Special Education from Bridgewater State College in 2004 and is currently teaching full time.
  • A 32-year-old woman with minimal business skills trapped in a series of unfulfilling and low paying jobs. She completed her studies at Newbury College with a degree in Computer Sciences.

WHAT IS OUR HISTORY?
The Educational Foundation, Inc. (The Foundation) was founded in memory of South Shore Women's Business Network (SSWBN) President Marion Overhiser. Marion began her career in the field of nursing. Years later, while working fulltime and raising two children, she returned to the classroom studying accounting and business. After graduation, she went on to become the founding partner of the CPA firm Overhiser & Dougherty. The Foundation was created in her honor shortly after her death in 1998.

HOW ARE WE STRUCTURED?
The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization managed by a Board of Directors and supported by a Collaboration of Volunteers working together to raise the funds needed to achieve our goals. Contributions are tax-deductible.
